My Dearest Santa Claus,
Merry Christmas! How was your year? Thank you for the presents you brought me last year. I hope you had a good rest from last Christmas and that you, Mrs. Claus, the reindeer, and all the elves are doing well up in the North Pole.
Well Santa, since I am on your “Nice” list, I guess you already know that I’ve been pretty good this year. I have been so very happy that it has been easy to be good and being happy is all I really want. But I do love making a list for you every year and I guess maybe it does help you out, so in a very particular order, here is what I want for Christmas this year:
- A big house …with a stone, wood burning fireplace…with a beautiful view of the mountains… with a lake or stream… and room for a pony. Oh, and high-speed internet.
- A horse…and a place to keep it. Santa, dear, I have asked you for this for the last 29 Christmases and you keep forgetting. If there’s not room on your sleigh, maybe you can just sprinkle some magic dust on him and he can help deliver gifts with your reindeer! I’m sure they won’t mind the additional assistance.
- A puppy! Maybe a little wirehaired dachshund or Irish setter that needs a home.
- A Jeep Grand Wagoneer… with a wreath on the front…. 80’s-90’s, 4WD, 4 doors, power locks- windows- and seats, heat and ac, leather seats, and a roof rack.
- A bluetooth speaker so I can listen to music from my iPhone while I am using it. I like the Soundfreaq Sound Spot.
- A record player turntable that can play vinyl, CD’s and/or cassette tapes AND record to MP3
- Perfume like L’air du Temps, Sexy Little Things Noir, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Demeter Mistletoe, Fancy Love, or Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.
- Some fancy makeup things like Christian Dior Creme de la Rose lip salve, Guerlain Meteorites Perles du paradis w/ brush, and anything Burberry
- A beautiful, old upright or grand piano. Now, Santa, if you can get me that house, I figure the piano might be hard to move, so if you’d rather just wait to deliver it to the new house, I’d understand.
To make it easy on you, I made a Pinterest Board so you can see exactly what I’m wanting.
If the list seems a little long, it’s only to give you variety. If the things on my list seem a little expensive, it’s because these are the things I wish for most of all and that I would not be able to get for myself. I am sure you will pick out something very special for me and I will be very happy with anything you bring me.
With Christmas in my heart,
*This is just a lighthearted little post from me but in the spirit of Christmas and Goodwill, I encourage everyone reading this blog to give to a charity of their choice. If everyone who could, gave a dollar, the coming year would be so much brighter for so many. A lot of companies match employees’ charitable donations! Check your company to see if they match gifts HERE. If you don’t know what charity to support, a good place to start is DonorsChoose.org which is a site that aggregates different charities and allows you to research and donate to the one you prefer. Alternatively, you could give to someone you know personally who is in need. If it might be embarrassing, you could give anonymously. Please don’t think that the smallest amount you can give is not enough!
It was great to watch the finale of Project Runway: Season 11 on Hulu yesterday!
I didn’t like the winner for most of the season but when Tim Gunn visited their homes as the final 4 were making their collection for the finale, I was really impressed with her personality, design and theme (I won’t spoil who the winner was in case you haven’t watched yet!).
Speaking of Tim Gunn he is THE reason I watch this show. He is such a wonderful mentor and man. …not to mention his style! oof! LOVE him. I have a signed copy of his newest book, Tim Gunn’s Fashion Bible
I played more of The Witcher 2 on Dark. It’s coming along nicely and doesn’t seem as hard as it did. I’m on Chapter 2, which is the longest, but the story my second time through is quite different from the first. I’ve been working on my review of it and it will soon be posted on my other blog, Saving the World From Evil…again!.
Plans for a late spring retreat to Nags Head are coming along and making me think of warm days on the beach. A few years ago we only lived about an hour from Nags Head so we went nearly every weekend. It was truly wonderful. I am just not -me- when I’m not near a beach and this is the farthest I have lived from a beach in my entire life. My consolation until we move again is this weekend trip and the beautiful and serene country land I get to live in the rest of the year.
We have to get a hammock stand for the hammock we bought at Nags Head Hammocks a few years ago! They hand fashion them and it’s spectacular. We got to order our hammock and pick it up the next day. We even got to see them making it. We have plenty of room to hang our hammock but nothing to hang it from, so we “have” to go back to get a stand. I just don’t know how I will hold up 😀 !!!
Drippy, chilly, foggy days like today are best for staying inside with my slippers on and chill music playing. I told my husband goodbye as he headed off to work and I put in The Witcher 2 to keep me company. I have s-l-o-w-l-y made my way through Chapter One of the game today. I put on my Chillax playlist and then my Hack n’ Slash playlist to help me batter my way through my enemies toward the finish of the chapter. I had to pull out the best strategies for each fight. I quit this evening so that I could start making dinner. Hubby won’t be home for a few hours still; I’m glad he missed me prepping to make the onion pie. I was in tears! I almost never get weepy from cutting onions, I assume it’s because I’m fast, but I had to cut 3 cups of onions paper thin for the pie and I just could not get through it quick enough! It’s my pie and I’ll cry if I want to!
I needed a new manicure, so I removed “Apple” by Zoya to put on a Witcher-feeling “Queen’s Ambition” by L’Oreal. It is my lone L’Oreal polish and was a Project Runway edition. It’s black with silver micro-glitter. I really liked Illamasqua’s “Creator” but it was super pricey and I don’t often want to wear dark colors. This is one of the best dupes I have ever found and it’s perfect. And it definitely reminds me of The Witcher. I could see the sorceress, Sile, wearing it. I like matching my manicure to whatever game I’m playing. Am I alone?
I don’t often buy CD’s, but I got Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience” CD yesterday. I’ve seen his most recent Saturday Night Live appearance about four times and it’s hilarious. I never really liked him much until I saw him do SNL a few years ago. This was his fifth time hosting and he joined the 5-timer’s club with Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Steven Baldwin, Tom Hanks and Candice Bergen on stage. He performed “Suit & Tie” from this album and his performance was good, I decided to get it. I was not disappointed. Most of the tracks are longer than they are on other CD’s. It was an especially good “chill” album to play today. I’m listening to Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” album on my iPhone at the moment.
Hubby and I have a Netflix membership that we used to use all the time but since moving out here to the boonies, we have a limited data plan via AT&T so our 20GB data cap keeps us from being able to stream as much media as we used to. We do get the discs in the mail, too but for some reason they just sit unwatched for weeks. we finally got around to watching Little Women yesterday. It was pretty good although we both agreed Winona Ryder was a little stilted in it and that her characterization of Jo in Little Women must have been the basis of her small-town character, Babe in Mr. Deeds. Susan Sarandon and Claire Danes were great and Christan Bale was a surprise!
We also got a new charcoal grill yesterday! It happened to be on sale and we’ve been wanting to upgrade from our bucket grill (literally just a bucket with a grate). Hubby just got home and already has it fired up for night 2 of grilling. Yesterday he unpacked it and grilled burgers and fish. Tonight is a chuck roast that I scored and marinated in soy sauce.
- Thumbs up!
We made a boring trip to the grocery store a little more fun!
